The Collegedale Tomorrow Foundation and the City of Collegedale will be hosting the Inaugural Christmas at the Commons, Christmas Tree Lighting on the Commons property and at City Hall.
The event will be held on Monday, Nov. 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with tree lighting and the arrival of Santa at 6:30 p.m.
The Christmas tree and tent will be set up on the Commons property with food vendors set up in front of City Hall. The "In-cahoots" will be playing Christmas music, and Santa will be welcomed "on one of his 8 shiny fire trucks" with a community singing of "Here Comes Santa Claus" at 6:30 p.m.
Officials said, "This will be the kick off for the community fundraising phase for Collegedale Commons, so we will have volunteers in multiple locations selling long sleeved t-shirts and taking orders for bricks and other fundraising levels, along with the food vendors and music.
"For every dollar we raise, up to $1,800,000 there is a dollar for dollar matching grant on the table for the Foundation to receive for construction of the Commons. So come on out, support local food vendors, hopefully get involved helping to build the Commons, and for sure have a good time and enjoy the fellowship of your community."
